| | | Ollin Tlahtoalli Center is a non profit organization that offers Spanish as a Second Language Courses and Mexican Culture Programs. All teachers at Ollin Center hold teaching certificates at the BA and Masters´level from Oaxaca State University and have five to ten years of teaching experience.
Ollin Center provides free English lessons to Oaxacan artisans, works with children in the communities on art and language workshops and promotes the preservation of oral history in Oaxacan communities. Omar Nunez, Director of the center, motivates his Oaxacan and international students to volunteer and participate in these projects.
Omar Nunez Mendez is founder and director of the center. He is a Fulbright scholar and holds a Master´s degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaing. Omar Nunez has been a professor of Spanish, English and Interculturality Issues at his center and in different institutes and universities in the state of Oaxaca. He is a Lingustics and Psycholinguistics professor at Oaxaca State Uinversity and combines his teaching responsabilities with his projects on the preservation of Oral Tradition and Identity in three different communities in Oaxaca. Professor Nunez collaborates with different organizations in Oaxaca and with Institutions in the US and Canada where he has been invited to share some of his current work.
